The hotel and the scenery surrounding it are absolutely gorgeous. The pool area is a lush, palm tree-filled oasis where we sat by the pool to soak up the sun and enjoyed delicious drinks from the bar and Solera, the poolside restaurant. Two hot tubs, a fountain-filled upper and lower pool with lights that change colors at night and comfortable pool side lounge chairs are what kept me poolside for most of my stay. There are areas with comfortable couches that are tucked away here and there among the palms for enjoying drinks at night or chatting with friends anytime. The beach side of the hotel is no less spectactular, with a small infinity pool and plenty of lounge chairs and wait staff to serve you if you choose to sit out there. The ocean by the hotel is majestic but not the best place to go swimming; it's ok to dip your feet in or maybe stay close to the beach but as far as snorkeling or wading in deeper goes, I would not recommend it. It's much better for surfing. The lobby is spectactular; open air with marble floors and comfortable chairs and couches for groups to sit and enjoy the Latin-inspired music playing in the background. Our rooms were very clean and modern looking, with a view of the ocean and sliding doors that opened up most of the room. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They can be a little bit slow at times. We arrived after 3:00 pm on a Friday and our room was not ready yet. Friends of ours arrived for check-in around the same time on Sunday, and when they arrived at their room they found that they had been given a room that had not been cleaned after the last occupants had checked out. But these things were minor, in my opinion, and are just worth noting in case one expects an instant response or extremely fast service all the time. The bottom line is that I would go back there to stay again tomorrow if given the chance and I absolutely loved it there.

La Concha is an absolutely beautiful beach front hotel in the community of Condado just east of San Jaun. Every room has spectacular, head-on ocean views and the facilities, including two pools, two hot tubs and a posh pool deck, are very modern. But the most important amenity is the gorgeous beach that is the hotel's backyard. While all beaches in Puerto Rico are public, the beach at La Concha is about as private as it gets. The hotel also provides beach chairs and umbrellas free of charge. Another plus about the hotel was the surrounding neighborhood. A lot of oceanfront hotels in the Caribbean are in secluded areas but this one has plenty of shops and restaurants within a block or two ranging from Wendy's to Gucci. If you are looking for Puerto Rican food, nearby Latin Star is hard to beat. If you are looking for non-Puerto Rican food Mike and Charlies, which serves Italian, is a cheap and delicious stop worth making. While it is easy enough to take a cab into Old San Juan (which takes about 15 minutes and cost around $15) there is also a free public bus that departs from the bus stop just to the west of the hotels main entrance. There are two buses that go to Old San Juan from this stop, the B21 and the C53 and it takes about 25 minutes. The cab from the airport was $20 and took about 15 minutes. The only odd thing about La Concha is that the lobby becomes a very trendy nightclub in the evenings that just oozes hip. This is great if you don't want to go far for nightlife, but the blaring music can be startling as you make your way to your room. Another minor drawback was the hotel casino that was being constructed adjacent to the hotel. The project was supposed to be finished in Fall 2008 but its looks more like Spring 2009. While I'm sure the casino will be great when it is done for now it is just a noisy eyesore. Overall, I can't imagine a better place to stay in Puerto Rico. I visited for only one night with my 12 year old son. It was a wonderful hotel and everyone made us feel very welcome. The front desk staff was extremely hospitable and helpful as was the restaurant and pool staff. The pools close fairly early though and my son was stuck with no towel. The security called for someone to bring a towel and he came from nowhere to get it to us-very impressive. The room, as well as the rest of the hotel, was very modern and fun. I think the only downfall is the location. I heard it was a bit dangerous at night, hence the 24 hour security on the beach, although we did feel very safe. I think in the next year or two, when the rest of the hotel is completed, the area might turn around it will be the destination hotel. Nice Job!
